Bhubaneswar: Chief
minister Naveen Patnaik today informed the assembly that the government
had not yet received any demand from the abductors of Laxmipur MLA Jhina
Hikaka for his safe release. The BJD MLA, a tribal, was kidnapped in
Koraput in the early hours of last Saturday. Chief minister made an
appeal to the abductors to release Jhina Hikaka unharmed.
Chief minister told the house that he had personally requested the two mediators of the CPI(Maoist), B D Sharma and Dandapani Mohanty, to continue discussions with the government to facilitate the release of Italian national Paolo Bosusco held hostage by the Maoists since March 14. Naveen said that the other Italian, Claudio Colangelo, abducted along with Bosusco, has arrived safely in Bhubaneswar after his release on Sunday. Naveen also made an appeal to the Maoists to release Colangelo unharmed.
