Kuchinda, July 20: Residents and lawyers of Kuchinda have been staging a protest outside the office of the sub-collector from June 25, demanding basic amenities. Their demands include smooth power supply , filing up of vacant posts of doctors and paramedics in the government hospitals and appointment of teachers to government-run educational institutions. The protestors have resolved to continue their agitation till the demands are met. On June 23, before staging the dharna, local residents had observed a bandh in the town. 1- The electricity problem in this area is acute. Residents face regular power cuts and low voltage. Demand smooth supply of electricity. Though the foundation stone for a 132 by 33kv grid was laid at Khandokata for the smooth supply of electricity in 2009, the work is still far from complete. 2- Similarly, the Kuchinda sub-divisional headquarter hospital and the other government-run healthcare centres are facing staff shortage .
